When Tomorrow Starts Without Me

When tomorrow starts without me
And I’m not there to see
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for me.
I wish so much you wouldn’t cry
The way you did today
While thinking of the many things
We didn’t get to say.
I know how much you loved me,
And each time that you think of me
I know you’ll miss me too.
But when tomorrow starts without me
Please try to understand
That an angel came and called my name
And took me by the hand
And said my place was ready
In heaven far above
And that I’d have to leave behind
All those I dearly love
But when I walked through heaven’s gates
I felt so much at home
When God looked down and smiled at me
From his golden throne
He said, “This is eternity
And all I’ve promised you
Today for life on earth is past
But here it starts anew”
I promise a new tomorrow
For today will always last,
And since each day is the same
There’s no longing for the past.
So when tomorrow starts without me
Don’t think we’re far apart,
For every time you think of me
I’m right here in your heart.

It will be nice for you to get back to your home and puppies...Let me know if there's anything I can do...I feel like a schmuck for being so far away.

This poem was sent to my mom, when my little brother prematurely (at 1.5 years old), passed away from SIDS. That was 26 years ago, my heart still aches...and tonight it aches for your family. Many blessings, and heartfelt prayers. Stephanie

I’ll Lend You a Child
by Edgar Guest

I'll lend you for a little time a child of mine,"
For you to love - while he lives
And mourn for when he dies.
It may be seven or eight years
Eighteen or twenty- three,
But will you, till I call him back,
Take care or him for Me?
He'll bring his smiles to gladden you,
And shall his stay be brief
You'll have his lovely memories as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay,
Since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there
I want this boy to learn.
I've looked this world over
In search for teachers true,
And from the throngs that crowd
Life's loves, I have selected you.
Now will you give him all your love,
Nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate Me when I call
To take him back again?"
I fancied that I heard then say,
"Dear Lord, Thy will be done,
For all the joy this child shall bring,
The risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness,
We'll love him while we may,
And for the happiness we've known
Forever grateful stay.
But should the angels call for him
Much sooner than we've planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that come
And try to understand."

I am so saddened to hear of their loss. I have been holding them in my thoughts since email #1. What an amazing loss. I know something good will come of this, it will. It will just take time for the miracle to appear. May they find strength in each other and their love.
